Whether it’s cool bars or cultural tips – they both know where to go and what to do.

Argentina is known for tango, steak and beautiful men. To stay with the latter: Where is the best place to go for a drink in the gay scene of Buenos Aires for starters?

Gustavo: The district of Palermo Soho is the best place to start into nightlife, and the Work Bar is the first choice for gay bars.

Pablo: Another option is Florería Atlántico, a “secret” bar located in the basement of a florist’s and currently considered one of the hottest bars in the world. That is probably why it has such a high proportion of gay guests.

And where does the best party take place?

P: You will find a wide selection of parties in Buenos Aires all week long. Among our favourites are the Malevo Party which takes place once a month and the Saturday parties Macho in the Glam Disco and Human Club in the Crobar.

After a night of dancing it is always helpful to know where you can regain your strength. What is a good place to have brunch?

G: The Pride Café in San Telmo is ideal for a Sunday brunch and is popular with locals and tourists alike.

P: The Maricafé is a new option in the Palermo district. Drag shows take place here and guests can also browse through the adjoining bookstore.

If someone is visiting Buenos Aires for the first time, what should they not miss?

G: A walk through Palermo Soho with its trendy shops, small bars, cafés, galleries and excellent restaurants is a must. In addition, you should visit the cemetery of Recoleta, where Evita Perón is buried. As a contrast, there are some of the best clubs in town in the immediate vicinity.

P: An extraordinary experience is a visit to the opera house, the Teatro Colón, that is one of the most beautiful theatre buildings of the world.

When you have finished your city tour, where do you normally go to relax?

P: Markus Spa for Men is exactly the right place to get pampered – for example with a four-hand massage.

We have already mentioned tango and meat (beef) as part of Argentinean identity. Is there a possibility in Buenos Aires to combine both in style?

G: For us the best offers are the modern show Rojo Tango at the Faena Hotel or Universe in Puerto Madero, designed by Philippe Starck.

Argentina has much more to offer than just its capital. If you want to see more of the country, which regions would you recommend?

P: Our home country has incredibly diverse landscapes, some of which are just breathtaking. The Iguazú waterfalls in the northeast, one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World, are definitely worth a visit.

G: Just like the Perito Moreno Glacier near El Calafate in southern Patagonia, which can be explored on foot or by boat and which calves into Lago Argentino with up to two metres per day.

P: Almost unknown is the province Jujuy on the border to Bolivia and Chile. Here one finds the “Mountain of the Seven Colours”, numerous small, colourful villages and an incredibly good cuisine.

More information about Buenos Aires can be found at www.turismo.buenosaires.gob.ar

Pablo (left) and Gustavo (right) are experts when it comes to tips for the Argentinean capital.
