There is a lot at stake – if not everything. The Democrats are fighting using all means – and they are not fighting alone. Cher’s performance was the icing on the cake of a fundraiser entitled “I Will Vote” as part of Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Before her, stars such as Jennifer Hudson, P!nk, John Legend and the Black Eyed Peas had already appeared to support the Democrat.

Joe Biden was given an honor that millions of gays would kill for: Cher sang a song for him

Cher even rewrote the lyrics of the 1943 Oscar-nominated song from the musical “Cabin in the Sky” as a tribute to Joe Biden.

“He’s got a way that makes the angels heave a sigh / When they know president Joe’s passing by.

…

Right now our country’s gloomy, fear is in the air / But when Joe’s president, hope is everywhere.

…

Joe will keep us safe – that’s all we need to know.”

“You’re not old enough to remember how bad it was.”

After her appearance at the virtual concert, the almighty Cher still found time to visit a gay bar in Las Vegas. There she is said to have washed the heads of queer maybe-voters with energetic words – and to have called the election the most important thing that had happened in her 74 years on this earth.

In a conversation about her fears that a second term for Trump would mean for the US and the world, she said that especially for the LGBTIQ+ community in the US, this election was about everything:

“A lot of you aren’t old enough maybe to remember how bad it was, but it was really bad — and it can be worse.”

Twitter, Trump and Thieves

It is no secret that Cher does not like Donald Trump and his politics – quite a few would even claim her to hate him passionately. Already in the 2016 election campaign, the music icon took a clear stand against the Republican. On Twitter, the well-known advocate for the rights of minorities and women regularly expresses her views on his policies.

In doing so, she sometimes became very direct: among other things, she called Trump a “liar”, a “dictator”, a “thug” and, referring to his Covid politics, a “mass murderer”. She also compared him with Adolf Hitler – and caused a shitstorm when she expressed the hope in a tweet, which has since been deleted, that Trump would go to prison and experience sexual abuse as the “toy boy of Big Bubba”. Although she later admitted that the joke had gone too far, she refused to apologise to Trump.

Here are our top 3 of her tweets against the US president:

1.
