{"id":16116,"date":"2020-11-04T11:46:53","date_gmt":"2020-11-04T11:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spartacus.gayguide.travel\/blog\/?p=16116"},"modified":"2020-12-16T13:58:11","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T13:58:11","slug":"vatican-not-yet-a-perfect-world-for-homosexual-couples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spartacus.gayguide.travel\/blog\/vatican-not-yet-a-perfect-world-for-homosexual-couples\/","title":{"rendered":"Vatican: Not a perfect world for homosexuals after all?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was to be expected: The Vatican denied the Pope&#8217;s statements on same-sex partnerships, recently published in a documentary, and made it clear that Pope Francis&#8217; statements do not change anything in the church&#8217;s doctrine on homosexuals.<\/p>\n<p>In the documentary &#8220;Francesco&#8221; by Russian filmmaker Yevgeny Afineevsky, there is a 20-second sequence in which Pope Francis says that homosexuals &#8220;have the right to live in a family&#8221;. They are &#8220;children of God&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You cannot throw someone out of a family or make their life hell for it. In a letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State to the Apostolic Nuncios for forwarding to all Catholic Bishops&#8217; Conferences, it says:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;it is obvious that the Pope has referred to certain state regulations, but certainly not to the church doctrine, which he has affirmed many times in recent years&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Vatican\u2019s Secretariat of State writes to bishops of the world (via nuncios) to brief them on Pope\u2019s civil unions remarks, to show that they refer to \u201cparticular arrangements of the state\u201d in respect of same-sex couples, and do not touch on \u201cchurch doctrine\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Austen Ivereigh (@austeni) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/austeni\/status\/1322971948369010693?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 1, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is said that the Pope&#8217;s answers to two separate questions have been put together in such a way that they can be understood as one answer. The intervening context and questions have been deleted.<\/p>\n<p>Afineevsky&#8217;s claim that Pope Francis gave him an interview while shooting the documentary is rejected by the letter &#8211; the statements are older and come from an interview Francis gave to the Mexican journalist Valentina in 2019. The letter was not printed on the official letterhead of the Vatican.
