There are two different seasons in this tropical paradise: a hot and dry one in Costa Rica’s summer and a green one in the winter. Either season sees rapidly growing tourism, as more and more visitors appreciate the benefits of either season. The Central American country is in “Green Season” at present which lasts until the mid-November. Some tourists prefer this as the country shows its lush and tropical side and the vegetation is abundant thanks to daily afternoon downpour. Air Berlin started serving Costa Rica directly from Germany in November for the first time during “High & Dry Season”.

The country is popular with North Americans (“snowbirds”) and Europeans who yearn for sun and beach during winter. In most of Costa Rica there is little or no rain during this time of year, which provides ideal conditions to explore the country outside the cities and cultural centres. Most guests of the Colours Oasis Resort, – a 21-year-old gay hotel in San José – use the “Green Season” for a longer stay and numerous day trips. The tours to volcanoes and waterfalls, cable car rides above tree tops, hiking, bird watching, horse riding or white water rafting start directly outside the hotel. Its location offers plenty of options to explore the restaurants and the diverse gay nightlife of the capital also. Colours, like most other hotels, has special offers for packages (hotel plus tours) between May and November to attract international guests in the Green Season.

Colours Destinations, a tour operator that organises accommodation and tours in the entire country all year round makes it easy for you to discover the gay side of Costa Rica. The planning of such a tour is free of charge. Colours guarantees a pleasant stay and exciting excursions if you leave enough room for leisure days. The cooperation with gay-owned or gayfriendly hotels, with members of Gay Travel Costa Rica Association and International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) supports Colours in providing excellent service.

INFO

www.visitcostarica.com
Ofiicial homepage of the tourism board including many useful tips.

HOW TO GET THERE

Air Berlin links Dusseldorf with Liberia, Guanacaste province (Costa Rica) via Cancún (Mexico) every fortnight since November 12th.
www.airberlin.com

TOURS

Booking accommodation or tours with Colours Destinations between November 12th, 2011 and May 14th, 2012 profit from a 10 per cent discount if code AB2CR 10 is entered during booking. www.coloursdestinations.com

HOTELS

Gay-friendly hotels in Costa Rica at a glance can be found here

Costa Rica’s „Green Season“ is also attractive for gay visitors.

more…

"sfsi_plus_gutenberg_show_text_before_share":"
[8,59,3,5
