Lufthansa is finally catching up with airlines such as Swiss or Singapore Airlines that\u00a0 have been offering lie-flat beds in their business class cabins for some time now.<\/p>\n
First steps towards a new seat in 2007<\/strong><\/p>\n More than 500 frequent flyers were asked about their preferences and requirements for a new business class seat as early as 2007. The results were the basis for the development of various concepts, supported by renowned ergonomists, designers and seat manufacturers. An eight-week practical test on the route from Frankfurt to New York and return followed in 2010. “We involved our customers closely during development of the new seat so that we can offer a bespoke product, fulfilling the needs and wishes of our Business Class passengers” states Jens Bischof, member of Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s Executive Board Passage during a presentation at ITB travel fair in Berlin.<\/p>\n “V” layout<\/p>\n Business Class seats on 747 and A380 aircraft will in future be arranged in a “V” layout instead of being mounted parallel to each other. This helps to fulfill another central customer wish: all passengers will still be sitting or lying in the direction of travel. With one main improvement. Head and shoulder areas are further apart in adjacent seats, giving business class passengers even more privacy. The entertainment system will also be improved.
