Aiming for an upscale experience, the concierge service at the men-only, clothing-optional The Hacienda is impressive. If you wish to impress a certain special travel companion, or just love knowing a certain brand of wine or type of flower bouquet will be waiting in your room, their staff enjoy creative requests and providing personal service. Guests may even check-in to find a pillow embroidered with their first name has been placed on the bed.<\/p>\n

Rooms<\/strong>
\nTruly a boutique experience, the hotel has only 10 rooms, almost all of them suites. Rooms have Wi-Fi and offer a romantic cosiness. The exotic mix of decor includes French doors and hand-crafted Indonesian teak headboards. All rooms offer patio access; deluxe suites have their own kitchens.<\/p>\n

Bathrooms<\/strong>
\nEach bathroom is a little different, though all have spacious washstands and showers. In the patio room and deluxe suites, Spanish tile counters, floors, and showers add warmth to the white and chrome fixtures. The Junior Suite has a wash basin resting atop a charming antique cabinet.<\/p>\n

Lobby<\/strong>
\nGuests enter the gated grounds through a large wooden door, under a pergola, and walk through gardens, past the pools, and a fountain before entering the actual building. As with most Palm Springs hotels, the transition between indoor and outdoor is seamless. A breezy seating area that is technically indoors is just a few feet away from the outdoor fountain, an open porch the two.<\/p>\n

\nThe clothing-optional pool area boasts two pools, a hot tub and a fireplace.<\/p>\n

Spa<\/strong>
\nThere is no on-site spa, but you can have a massage (Swedish, deep-tissue, sports) in your room. It can be booked through the hotel staff.<\/p>\n

Breakfast and lunch<\/strong>
\nAn extensive continental breakfast is served daily. You can choose from fresh fruits, juices,
\nEuropean-style pastries, bagels and cream cheese, cereals, eggs, cheese
\nand ham and freshly brewed coffee. The room rates also comprise a catered
\nlunch prepared by the restaurant. A broad selection of freshly made salads,
\nwraps and sandwiches, each with sides of your choice are available. Drinks range from freshly prepared iced tea, lemonade to wine. Lunch is served on proper china either poolside or in your room.<\/p>\n

Getting Around<\/strong>
\nParking is free and The Hacienda is just four minutes’ drive (or about a 20-minutes’ walk) from the restaurants, shops, and bars of downtown Palm Springs, including a cluster of gay bars and clubs on Arenas Rd.<\/p>\n

Restaurants<\/strong><\/p>\n

For a taste of the old Palm Springs, pay a visit to Melvyn\u2019s Restaurant & Lounge and piano bar (4-minutes’ drive). Obseve the dresscode: a collared shirt. Upmarket hot dogs and sausages can be found at Frankinbun (4-minutes’ drive), while Watercress Vietnamese Bistro (6-minutes’ drive) serves Vietnamese and Thai meals popular with the locals.<\/p>\n

Bars<\/strong>
\nIt wouldn\u2019t be Palm Springs without tiki bars or without gay bars and Toucan\u2019s Tiki (9-minutes’ drive) is both a gay bar and a tiki-themed bar. For a night at the club, Hunter\u2019s Nightclub (4-minutes’ drive) has a DJ and different theme nights (like drag bingo or Underwear Wednesdays). The RetroRoom Lounge (6-minutes’ drive) has karaoke every night, but check out happy hour for a delicious cocktail in a place that adores old Hollywood style.<\/p>\n
