The US-American drag artist Chi Chi DeVayne alias Zavion Davenport is dead. He died today as a results of pneumonia as part of a chronic illness. The 34-year-old drag actor became famous in 2016 by participating in the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He reached 4th place there.

In 2018, Davenport was diagnosed with scleroderma, a disease that affects various internal organs. In July of this year, the performance artist was hospitalised with kidney failure and subsequently had to undergo dialysis. A few days ago he announced He is in hospital again, this time fighting pneumonia. Davenport asked his fans to pray for him.

“Hey guys, I’m back inside. Keep me in your prayers, I’ll be back soon”,

said Davenport in his last Instagram video from the hospital to his approximately 494,000 subscribers. But all praying and hoping was in vain. Today his former drag race colleague Trinity K. Bonet announced the sad news on Instagram: Chi Chi did not make it.

Zavion Davenport quickly became a darling of the public and a winner of hearts in the 8th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race with his honest snout and a friendly nature. He made no secret of his poverty and told that he had two full-time jobs to keep his head above water.

Although, as he said, unlike many of his competitors, he could not afford the elaborate dresses and costumes, he still managed to make it to 4th place. He also took part in the third season of RuPaul’s AllStars – where he finished 8th. Since participating in the famous TV format, Davenport’s career has been on the rise, he was finally able to live his dream and work as a drag queen full-time.

Chi Chi DeVayne is the second participant of the popular format who is no longer alive. Sahara Davenport alias Antoine Ashley died in 2012. He had participated in the second season in 2010.
