187 signatories call on the Human Rights Council to act

After a break due to corona, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) has resumed its work. At the 44th session of the UNHCR, which was scheduled for today, a coalition of 187 queer human rights organizations presented a joint declaration describing the effects of COVID-19 on the queer community worldwide.

Grindr blackmail in Ghana: The community strikes back

Queer activists from Ghana raise the alarm: Gay and bisexual men are supposed to be spied on in dating apps, lured to places under false pretences, beaten up, robbed and/or blackmailed. Daily. The police and law enforcement of the African country do not care. Now the community is fighting back itself: With a Facebook page, victims warn others of their blackmailers.

The photographer Pamela Porwen started a photography project in which she photographed well-known queer people from Poland as wedding couples. The photos will be exhibited in May. Inspiration for the project was the deteriorating situation of the queer community in Poland and the fact that there is no legal recognition for same-sex couples.

Mr Gay World 2020 fights for the community – and against Corona!

The new Mr Gay World comes from Spain: Due to the corona crisis, the competition had to be postponed this year – the jury promptly selected last year’s runner-up as the winner for 2020. However, the Spanish doctor Francisco José Alvarado (30) scored another victory: He not only fought COVID-19 for his patients, but he himself got infected – and was able to overcome the disease.
