It can get cold in northern Michigan in winter, located directly at the Canadian border, even very cold. The temperature in January and February falls to minus ten degrees Celsius on average. Fortunately the locals have developed something against winter depression: Fudge. A large quantity of sugar is melted in large copper vats, then mixed with cream, butter, raw chocolate and a little salt, then cooled on large marble tables and cut into slices. The result is a soft, almost flaky texture and an intense taste. Certainly nothing to keep you in shape, but there are still be a few months before this becomes an issue again.
