I LIKE BANGKOK BECAUSE…

no place in the world is perfect, but despite all the problems Thailand is an incredibly beautiful country with a diverse nature and people full of inner beauty. And Bangkok: Yes, I love the city! Maybe because I was born here and my family lives here.

BEST TIME FOR TRAVEL

Summer in Thailand starts in April and then it gets hot. The Thai New Year Songkran takes place then. New Year’s Day is April 13th, but we also celebrate New Year’s Day on April 14th and 15th, especially the water festival. The big streets are closed and everywhere people fight with water pistols. This is incredible fun – and the best time to visit.

WHERE TO EAT

If you want to get a feel for Thai cuisine, you should try Nara Thai Cuisine in the Central World shopping complex. The food there is not too spicy. The restaurant is not really gay, but very nicely furnished.

BEST BAR

The small alley Silom Soi 4 is known for its various restaurants, pubs and karaoke bars. You should definitely visit the Balcony Bar and the Telephone – perfect for having a drink or two with friends, meeting acquaintances and just looking at the crowds of people flocking by.

BEST CLUB

The DJ Station on Silom Soi 2 is clearly the best club in town. Here Thais and tourists meet and dance through the night. Those who have not been to Silom Soi 2 have not been to Bangkok!

BEST FLIRT

The Silom Soi 2 is also the best place for flirting. Nowhere else is it more successful.

NOT TO MISS

Pad Thai is the worldwide reknown dish of Thai cuisine. Pad Thai Thip Samai Restaurant also offers Pad Thai and you should try it there. The preparation there is uniquely and the taste better than in any other restaurant.

INSIDER TIP

I like the Erawan Shrine, one of Bangkok’s most popular shrines. You can often see dances here. The dancers are paid out of gratitude from people whose prayers have been answered here.
