Tshwane / Pretoria - Gauteng

The city's original name was Pretoria Philadelphia. Known as the Jacaranda City for all the spring purple blossom-bedecked trees which line its thoroughfares, Pretoria is a lovely, quiet and truly African city. It has a long, involved and fascinating history going back to the first Ndebele settlements in the 1600's. Apart from the many significant historical old buildings, fascinating museums and other attractions, you will find Pretoria's gay life vibrant and exciting. Post-apartheid Pretoria developed a strong Gay culture, several popular clubs, bars, saunas, guest houses and two exclusive male only farms, for those wishing to experience the African bush. Most locals speak English fluently. Commuter and main line trains from Pretoria Station link the city to all major centers in and outside the province but other forms of public transport are also available. Extensive changes are in progress at the station, as work is being done to accommodate the new Gautrain. The city has a subtropical climate with long, warm to hot summers and short moderately cool dry winters.
