Gay Guide France
France - ideally located in the heart of Europe - has always been a popular destination for gays. Despite stormy protests, no age of consent was agreed in implemented in 2018, but the law on sex with under-15s has become a lot stricter. 2013 marks a milestone in the political debate on the legal equality of same-sex civil partnerships to marriage. After the Pacs for homosexual and heterosexual partnerships was introduced in 1999, socialist president François Hollande announced in the 2012 election campaign that he would push for complete equality between homosexual partnerships and marriage. After the socialists gained large majorities, "homosexual marriage" could be enforced even after massive protests by conservatives and churches. Radical conservatives repeatedly called for mass protests during the legislative process, some of which degenerated into violence. According to reports, there was also a sharp increase in physical violence against gays and gay institutions during this period. Full equality in adoption law was also seen as particularly worthy of criticism. After the highly controversial law was passed and anchored in the constitution, the protests ebbed away again. Pacs remains active and can be used by those who choose a civil partnership. Speaking foreign languages such as English are not necessarily the strength of many French people, this is partly a generational issue. But they are charming and helpful - you can also communicate in different ways. They proudly present their country and its many temptations. France has the biggest number of saunas and sex clubs in Europe, proving that the French live their sexuality freely. The country is famous for its varied landscapes, the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts, nudist beaches, traditional festivals and cuisine. Gay Prides are held in different cities, and the largest parade in Paris attracts an estimated 700,000 visitors annually.
