Helsinki is a fantastic city with a small but interesting gay scene. The lesbian scene in the city is very visible. All the bars and clubs are open to women too, even the Hercules nightclub. The only place where gay men can mix amongst themselves is Finland's only gay sauna "Vogue". Helsinki Pride takes place at the end of June each year and is a political demonstration without the commercial side found at many other European Pride events. The parade ends in the Kaivopuisto Park where there is a stage and many live acts. Tip: a Helsinki Card is a must for those on a short city break.
