Gay Guide Caribbean - Curaçao
Under Article 255 of the penal code, homosexual acts are legal between adult males, and the age of consent is set at 16. The attitude of the general public towards homosexuality, however, is somewhat less tolerant than that of the Dutch mother country. However, Curaçao is currently promoting itself as a "gay-friendly" destination. Advertising aimed directly to the community is being used and the motto of the island "Biba i Laga Biba" (live and let live). The island offers heavenly beaches, divine diving possibilities, golf, casinos and a lot more. Curaçao's first gay pride week took place in September 2013 and was celebrated by hundreds of visitors.
