Gay Guide Reunion

Réunion is a French "Département d'Outre-Mer", the legal situation is the same as in mainland France. The flight from Mauritius only takes half an hour, and the landscape is so beautiful that a visit is definitely worthwhile. In contrast to other destinations in this region, there is no violence against homosexuals on the island. Réunion is a small island paradise in which traditional values and family are very important. One has to be aware that Réunion is perhaps not for sexual encounters, but nevertheless a suitable destination for gays. The inhabitants show increasing tolerance towards gays and lesbians, as there are more and more mixed couples of Creoles (native) and Frenchmen from the continent.
