Gay Guide Essen

Welcome to the Ruhr region! Essen, with a population of just under 600,000, is known as the "secret capital of the Ruhr region" because of its central location. Always worth a visit: the city's landmark, "Zeche Zollverein" - a remnant of the city's industrial history that now houses many museums. There is no big gay party scene in Essen, but the gay tourist gets his money's worth - and finds several bars as well as two gay saunas. For short trips and stopovers: Directly by the main station is the quaint old gay pub "Gaststätte im Briefkasten".
