Gay Guide Turkey
A homosexual sub-culture based on the west European model has made its mark in Istanbul, Ankara und Izmir. At the same time the public opinion in respect to homosexuality has slowly started changing. In the large cities you will find more men who openly admit to being gay. Along with the European-like scene there is also a local scene developing in which men can meet (e.g. in Hammams, the Turkish baths) without the fear that they may be considered gay. One should not expect to find west European standards at any of the mentioned baths. Cruising is seldom. It is advisable to find a local hotel in which you can "come together". For reasons of security, you should never use your own hotel! Anonymous sex is often for money.
