Vancouver, Canada's gateway to the Pacific, is the country's third largest and most beautiful city. With strong British and European roots, the city's growing ethnic groups include Southeast Asian, Iranian and an increasing number of Latin Americans who now call Vancouver home. Vancouver has the mildest winters in the country. The average January temperature is 0ºC, while in summer temperatures average around 20ºC to 24ºC from May to September. Vancouver can be a rainy city, but is never the less a year-round gay-friendly destination. Several first class ski resorts (Whistler for example) are within the metropolitan area. Whistler hosts a Gay Ski Week each January or February and attracts hundreds of gay skiers from around the world. Vancouver's "gay village" in the West End is concentrated along Davie Street. Attractions include the annual fireworks display on the English Bay and the Pride Parade with gay events taking place a week long. Vancouver is one of the cleanest cities in North America. The city has a good public transport system on land and on the water. Vancouver - a natural destination for the gay visitor.
