Gay Guide Mexico City
The former Tenochtitlan is one of the biggest cities in the world, with more than 20 million inhabitants. 1,525 km² of steel, stone, glass, vegetation, people, music, light, life, history, all that at 2,240 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and snow covered volcanoes Popocatépetl and Ixtlaxihuatl. Impossible to see everything it all in just one visit! The busiest gay area is the "Zona Rosa", mainly at Amberes street, close to the city centre: trendy bars, sophisticated restaurants, chic boutiques and gift shops, - a relaxed atmosphere in the middle of the city rush. In the old city centre, around the Alameda Park, are some of the traditional gay meeting points. La Marcha LGBT (Pride) takes place on the last Saturday in June. The south of the city is worth a visit: Coyoacán, San Angel - "Bazar del Sábado", Xochimilco, soul of the colonial past. The Campus of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México is a must. If you are a keen visitor of museums, the city offers the biggest and the best conglomerate of museums in Latin America. Be sure not to miss a visit to the Museo de Antropología!
