Gay Guide Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is considered nowadays as one of the most popular gay capital cities South America. It is a city with a typical European feel: wide green avenues with sumptuous public buildings and gardens. The Plaza de Mayo is an excellent example, surrounded by the cathedral, the Mayor's house and the "Manzana de las Luces" (Block of Lights). The Avenida 9 de Julio is the most important avenue, crowned by the Obelisk - a symbol of the city. In the Corrientes Avenue you will find the main theatres and entertainment venues. The gay scene is concentrated in the districts of Palermo, San Telmo, Recoleta and Barrio Norte. The Pride is celebrated the first Saturday of November (see: www.marchadelorgullo.org.ar), which is incidentally also the date when the first homosexual group was created in Argentina.
