Gay Guide Salvador - Bahia
With over 3 million inhabitants, Salvador is Brazil's third major city and has grown in the last few years at an amazing place. Salvador, also known as the black city of Brazil, is the capital of Bahia, in Northeast Brazil on the Atlantic coast. The centre of the gay life is in the Rua Carlos Gomes and in this neighbourhood, where many bars, saunas and discos are to be found. The annual gay carnival takes place here in February on the 'Praça Castro Alves'. Near "Teatro Castro Á lves" (in the "Campo Grande") in the small lane "Cerqueira Lima" or "Beco is the Artistas" are a number of gay/lesbian bars and discos(open from 19h, closed on Mondays).
