For the 14th time in a row, American Airlines has got a full score in the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Index for Businesses. Human Rights Campaign is committed to combating discrimination against gays and lesbians in the workplace. The Corporate Equality Index (CEI) was launched in 2002 and American Airlines was the only airline to achieve the maximum number of points in its first year. Since then, the company has defended this placement in the CEI. “Maintaining this rating is a matter of pride and purpose for us,” said Mike Waldron, manager responsible for diversity, among other things. For example, American has had a network for gay and lesbian employees since 1994.

Companies are using June more frequently to review their policies towards their gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans* employees. June has established itself as “Pride Month” because, among other things, the Stonewall uprisings took place in New York in June 1969.

American Airlines serves Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf in Germany and connects these cities with Chiacago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte and Philadelphia.
