Insider
Stefan and Sebastien as travel bloggers ‘Nomadic Boys’ know the whole world. They reveal what they particularly appreciate about their hometown London in the Spartacus Traveler interview.
WE LIKE LONDON BECAUSE…
London is one of the best gay capitals in the world! London has a great scene all over the city. Even in our relatively small neighbourhood Acton which is rather suburban there is a gay bar, the West Five (Popes Ln). London is exciting, international and a very multicultural place. www.west5ealing.co.uk
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
You can visit London all year round. The Christmas season in December is always special as the whole city is abundantly decorated, everything shines and sparkles, the season is celebrated everywhere. The Christmas lights in Oxford and Regent Street e.g. or the Christmas markets on the South Bank are worth seeing. The city is especially fun when it is warm and sunny in summer – unfortunately this does not happen too often. But once you glimpse a bit of blue sky past the clouds London is the place to be.
RESTAURANT TIP
La Poule au Pot near Sloane Square (231 Ebury St) is great because it offers healthy French cuisine. It is also one of the most romantic restaurants in town. www.pouleaupot.co.uk
BEST BAR
We like the G-A-Y Bar on 30 Old Compton Street. This is the bar where we met back in 2009. Besides we love mainstream pop music and this is played there non-stop.
BEST CLUB
The Ku Bar (30 Lisle St) has a great, fun club. It gets busy almost every day of the week. www.ku-bar.co.uk
BEST FLIRT
There’s no need to think for long: In the showers at Fitness First Covent Garden (6 Bedford St).
NOT TO BE MISSED
The London Gay Pride. It is one of the best Prides we’ve ever seen. There’s a huge street festival on Old Compton Street. In addition everyone can simply join the parade or watch it pass from the sidewalk. www.prideinlondon.org
INSIDER’s TIP
A walk along the river in Hammersmith is extremely romantic. After enough walking you can stop at The Dove (19 Upper Mall), one of the best and oldest pubs in town. There is always a warm and cosy atmosphere here. www.dovehammersmith.co.uk
