When thinking of “queer comics”, only the name Ralf König pops into your mind then you will discover completely new worlds here. For the first time a German museum is dedicated to comics with LGBTIQ* characters. In the Schwules Museum* the “superheroes” are working particularly hard for us. Not only is this about the usual supermen and -women who have experienced coming-out stories in recent mainstream comic strips. At the forefront are regular LGBTIQ* heroes who have conquered their very own terrain – in heteronormative society as well as in a comic world dominated by censorship and codes.
