New York
New York had expected up to 4 million visitors in Pride month, which ended this weekend with a parade through Manhattan as the highlight. Approximately 160 groups and cars and 150,000 participants took part. The parade lasted over 12 hours – only after midnight did the last participants reach the finish line.
High-ranking politicians marched along. Among them: the governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, New York City’s mayor Bill de Blasio and the democratic senator Chuck Schumer. Numerous organizations, clubs and groups participated in the parade. Representatives of the Gay Liberation Front marched with early activists who had been involved in the Stonewall uprising of 1969.
After sunset, many of the city’s buildings shone in rainbow colors, including the Empire State Building and the top of the One World Trade Center.
Around the Pride weekend, numerous stars such as Madonna, Lady Gaga, Grace Jones, Bette Midler and Melissa Etheridge met at various events.

A ridiculous amount of coffee was consumed in the process of building this project. Add some fuel if you'd like to keep us going!
