Several months have passed since the first presentation of the app at ITB travel fair in Berlin in March 2011. With the imminent launch of Spartacus iPhone app, the world’s best-known gay travel guide enters the mobile age. Over 20,000 listings in 150 countries guide you through the gay scenes from Australia to Zimbabwe, from Aberdeen to Zurich.
Cruising without roaming fees
Bars, clubs, hotels, saunas, beaches or cruising spots are displayed on the city map via GPS. And that without paying for expensive roaming, since almost all functions are available offline as well. Addresses, photos, additional information and links to homepages help you choose the nearest gay spot. There is also information about current events or special offers like happy hour in the bar nearby. Depending on what tickles your fancy, the app can find the appropriate location – for a drink, accommodation, a club or a shag. The app is frequently updated. While the printed guide is issued once a year, the app is updated monthly. Users can use a feedback function to send comments, notes or photos to the editors.
Free app for South Africa
The app is available in German and English in versions “Europe”, “World without Europe” and “Worldwide” and retails from 6.99 Euros. The Spartacus app for South Africa can be downloaded as a free sample. Future users can thus see how it works.
