CSDs in world metropolises these days are mostly mega-events that have been tried and tested for decades and have the support of the local population. In contrast, Hong Kong Pride, started in 2008, is still a delicate plant with only 5,000 visitors. When the Rainbow Warriors walk through the urban canyons this year under the motto “Yell Out for Equality” it will mark the amazing blossoming of the LGBT movement of a city of millions. A city characterised by the interplay of modern high-tech and traditional Chinese culture.
