The Spartacus app for the iphone informs about bars, cafés, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, saunas, shops, cruising spots and gay clubs and groups in Athens and the whole of Greece.
The new Athens Real Campaign provides information on the gay scene of the Greek capital. Various Athenians give recommendations and tips about their favourite places in Athens on the state of the art website.
How to get there
Aegean Airlines is regularly awarded the title of Europe’s best regional airline. Not without reason: Where else are you served a hot meal that is included in all fares on relatively short intra-European routes?
The Great Hilton Athens (Leof. Vasilissis Sofias 46) not only scores with excellent service, friendly staff and a central location in the city, but also with a fantastic view from your bed directly to the Acropolis.
The Cookoovaya (Chatzigianni Mexi 2) not far from the Hilton is a real insider tip. It is an upper-class restaurant without any odd attitude. The focus is on first-class Greek cuisine, instead.
In one of the first Greek bars that is designated to bears there is a relaxed and open atmmosphere on weekends. At Big (Falaisias 12) even twinks can start relaxing in the evening.
Until July 16, 2017, Athens is the second venue of the art spectacle Documenta, which is based in Kassel (Germany) and is held there every five years. Those who make it through the little user-friendly website can find exciting exhibitions and performances. Otherwise, you might stumble upon one of the many exhibition venues during a city stroll.
On June 10th, 2017, Athens Pride starts at the central Syntagma Square, right in front of the Greek parliament. The queer community has been celebrating socio-political progress when same-sex couples could also apply for civil union starting two years ago. Athens is undoubtedly one of the most liberal cities in the country and offers a large gay scene.
