Toronto

Toronto, situated on the northern side of Lake Ontario, is the largest city in Canada, with 5.6 million inhabitants. It is an ultra-modern business and financial centre. Its name comes from the Huron Indian language, meaning "meeting place", and it's still a meeting place for one hundred different cultures. Despite being so cosmopolitan, the city has held onto its British roots and values, and is clean, reliable and safe. Toronto has a unique stunning skyline, dominated by the CN Tower, which with its 553.33 metres is the world's tallest free standing tower. On a clear day you can see the spray from Niagara Falls one hundred kilometres away. For lesbian and gay travellers there's loads on offer in the gay village, running from the intersection of Church and Isabella Streets up to Yonge Street, right in the heart of the attractive pedestrian-friendly city centre. Toronto has lots to offer, and is a fun, good-value destination, whether you're into culture, nightlife or the great annual Gay Pride festival taking place at the end of June/beginning of July.
