Black River » Villa Hikaru
Villa Hikaru sits atop a sandy knoll with a commanding view of the Caribbean just beyond our beachfront gate. Our staff will shop for you, and prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to your tastes. It's like a small, very personal hotel! Most of our neighbors are village fishermen; one of the late-afternoon joys is to watch for them from our shaded patio as they return from a 50-mile trip to sea, then go down to help Miss Venesia buy your meals. You can walk all-but-deserted beaches for miles. There's a tourist area a mile and a half away (home of the famous Jake's) with several good restaurants -- but most folks think Miss Venesia's cuisine tops the restaurants. A trip up the Black River, one of the world's great marine morasses, is special - reached by car, or (better) in a local fisherman's boat, with a stop on the way back at a unique restaurant on stilts out on a reef. Other places worth visiting: historic Black River itself, the cataracts of Y.S. Falls, the Bamboo Avenue, Lover's Leap and the Appleton Rum Factory. Or just stay home and play on our private tennis court and croquet court, or laze around our 50-foot lap pool.
