Brooklyn's Pride: The William Vale

Brooklyn, the district of New York is not only more popular than ever with gays and lesbians. Artists and creative people have made the Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods their new homes, and visitors appreciate the view over the skyline of Manhattan when they look over the East River for a cappuccino in the morning. Even better is the view from the new William Vale Hotel, which has opened its doors on stilts in Vale Park.

The hotel fits perfectly into the former working-class district, whose factories were decorated with graffiti and now house clubs, cafes and lofts. The William Vale is also a place of art. For example, Brooklyn-based artist Marela Zacarias has furnished the reception hall with a two-storey colorful sculpture. The 183 rooms also show works by local artists. They round off the interior design in cool shades of grey and white.

But it's not just the interior that makes you want to stay longer. On the fourth floor of the 22-storey design hotel, Brooklyn's longest outdoor pool invites you to hop into the cool water. In the warm season, guests can enjoy a 20-metre-long swimming pool that is Take a lane and relax on the sun loungers on the terrace. If you want more privacy, sunbathe on your own balcony - a rarity in New York hotels.

On the top floor of the hotel, the Westlight Bar with its retro furniture and roof terrace invites you to dinner - while your gaze wanders over Manhattan. New York chef Andrew Carmellini is known for his Italian specialities. They are served in the Leuca gourmet restaurant, which is located on the ground floor. If, on the other hand, you're more interested in street food, you can also visit a food truck in front of the door, which is housed in one of the famous silver Airstream caravans from the 1970s. And on Saturdays the Smorgasburg food market rises right next to the hotel - the largest open-air food market in the USA is a must for everyone who appreciates good and healthy food.

For the Pride in June, William Vale organizes numerous events, which are not only open to the guests of the hotel: From refreshing pool parties to exciting film screenings. The exact programme can be found on the website under "Culture".
