It was 1978 or so, three or four in the morning and I was at the end of a sexual escapade at the Club Baths on Melrose in Hollywood California. I was young, cocked and loaded, and truly the happiest at the baths where I could hang out with other horny naked men. The connections were intense. It was late but I didn’t want to leave the testosterone charged atmosphere that made me feel so incredibly alive. And going home would be a return to the so-called real world from which I always felt so disconnected.

I dreamt of a male world where I could be my true self all the time….

The Legendary Vista Grande Resort is the fulfillment of that dream.

The small unassuming wooden door at the entrance to the Vista Grande belies the sprawling private land of lush gardens, hummingbirds, waterfalls, and interesting men from all over the world. The Vista Grande began in 1984 and was the first gay clothing optional hotel in Palm Springs. We had seven guest rooms and business was transacted in the nude on a pay phone by the pool. Thirty-five years later and now with 30 guest rooms our mission remains the same, have a lot of fun providing discerning gay travelers a secret garden sanctuary of earthly delights where we celebrate life and love and personal freedom every day.
European Travelers have been coming to the Vista Grande for 35 years and for long term stays especially appreciate our spacious, beautifully furnished, and comfortable apartments with fully equipped kitchens Last summer a European man stayed in a Mirage Waterfall Suite for three months and had the time of his life living in Palm Springs at the Vista Grande.
