Criticism against Cartier: Gay couple called “father and son” in worldwide advert in Chinese version?
“How far would you go for love?” asks Cartier’s new commercial in China. The spot features people who are clearly romantically involved – including two men and two women. The nature of the persons’ relationship with each other in the clip is deliberately left vague – but in the meantime the homosexual couples were called “girlfriends” or “father and son” in the advertisements. Activists are appalled.

Tunisia: Court of Appeal confirms sodomy ruling
A Tunisian court of appeal upheld the conviction of two men found guilty of sodomy in June. The court only reduced the sentence from two to one year in prison.

USA: Judges overturn trans*hostile law – birth certificates can be changed again
The ruling of a federal district court in Idaho on Friday was a victory for queer activists. The court overturned a Republican-backed law that had caused worldwide horror with its regression. Since July 2020 it has banned transgender people in the northwestern US state from having their birth certificates adjusted.

A lesbian student of the “South China Normal University” sued the publisher of a textbook describing homosexuality as a “psychosexual disorder”. Her pseudonym XiXi was created in reference to Sisyphus and stands symbolically for her years of struggle.

Darin Zanyar came out to Instagram as gay. The 33-year-old is one of Sweden’s most famous pop stars – with seven number one albums. The singer with Kurdish roots has also become a role model for the Kurdish community through his courageous step.

Transphobia: Police officers convicted of murder, another bloody deed in Portland
A criminal court in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, sentenced three police officers to 20 years imprisonment each for the murder of a transsexual woman. In Portland at least a 26th trans*person in the US lost her life this year.

Poland: Activists decorate statues with rainbow flags – right-wing politicians go ballistic
Jesus, Nicolaus Copernicus and the Warsaw Mermaid became colourful: the three bronze statues were decorated by queer activists* with rainbow flags and pink anarchist scarves. With this, the collective “Stop Bzdurom” (Stop Bullsh*t), which is responsible for the colourful “assassination”, wants to make it clear: Queer people belong to Poland!
