Wanting to escape the European winter? Ko Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand about 35 kilometres from the Thai mainland. The gay-friendliness of the Thais and the vibrant nightlife are just two of the reasons why the resort is so popular with gays. We introduce you to two of the most beautiful and gay friendly beaches on the island:

1. Chaweng Beach

Much of the action for gays on the island takes place around Chaweng. On the very popular, 7km long beach at the east side of the island Ko Samui there is also a beach section where you can find mainly gay sunbathers. The section is around the end of Soi Lamdin (off Chaweng Beach Rd).
At night, in the surroundings of the beach, things really go off: very close to the beach, for example, you find the gay bar “Pride Bar Samui”.

2. Lamai Beach

Lamai is the second largest beach on the island after Chaweng Beach. It is about 10 km away from Chaweng and 4 km long. Here it is a bit cheaper and quieter than on Chaweng Beach, but bars and nightlife are also provided in the area.

Please note: As nude bathing is against the law as well as against Thai culture, there are no nudist beaches on Koh Samui.
