Madrid

Exactly 40 years after their first groundbreaking gay demo Spain’s capital invites you to the fifth World pride. The cosmopolitan, multicultural rainbow metropolis of Madrid is host of the biggest international LGBT event from 23 June to 2 July 2017. The organisers expect three million participants. The programme includes more than 100 parties, shows, concerts, sports events, exhibitions, theatre productions, readings and films, conferences, seminars and workshops. The main venue of Pride Week is the city centre around the popular gay Chueca neighbourhood. The celebrations take place in popular gay venues, open air at street festivals and at World Pride Park, just a 15 minute walk from Chueca. The entrance is at the Puente del Rey, which is also easy to reach by Metro. The green leisure and recreation area on the River Manzanares offers large lawns for sunbathing, play and sports areas and in addition to stages, stalls and food trucks. A special “Kids and Family Pride” is intended to make adolescents familiar with the normality of being different. From 23rd to 25th June, the ninth Pride games are a sporting highlight. The Central Pride parade takes place on the 1st of July and runs through the city for six hours   from 6pm to midnight.
