Tokyo has the largest gay scene of the country. Foreigners can orientate themselves with help of the magazines "Metropolis Tokyo" and "Tokyo Night Life" both written in English. There are several gay areas including Shinjuku-nichome, Shinbashi, Ueno, and Asakusa. Shinjuku-nichome, largest gay area, is the most welcoming to gay foreigners. It is also where the Tokyo Rainbow Festival is held annually on a Sunday in August.
